Browned Butter Cream Cheese Frosting

Original Recipe Brown Butter Cream Cheese Frosting
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup unsalted butter
- 8oz full-fat block cream cheese, room temperature
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla paste or extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1-2 tbsp. cream or milk
Instructions
- Melt butter over medium heat, stirring regularly for 3-4 minutes, leaving milk solids in to caramelize
- Once butter reaches amber brown remove from heat and transfer to a heat-proof container to cool to room temperature
- Beat butter in stand mixer until light and creamy
- Beat in cream cheese until smooth
- add powdered sugar, salt and vanilla beat until combined and an additional 1-2 minutes or until fluffy
- Beat in milk if frosting is to thick.
