Flour Tortillas
Overview
Simple home-made tortillas
makes 6-12 depending on size
Ingredients
- 2 Cups AP Flour
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 cup filtered warm water
- 1/4 cup neutral oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl mix together dry ingredients until fully combined.
- While mixing with a spoon pour in warm water and oil, continue mixing until a rough ball of dough forms.
- knead on a floured surface until the dough forms a smooth ball.
- Divide dough ball into 6 pieces for burrito sized or 12 pieces for taco sized and roll each into a ball.
- On a floured surface roll each ball into a flattened circle the size of the final tortilla. Store between floured towels until ready to cook.
- Preheat a cast iron skillet, large enough to lay the tortillas flat, on medium high.
- place 1 tortilla at a time cooking on 1 side for 15-30 seconds or until slightly charred, flip and cook until lightly charred on the other side.
- Remove from pan and place between a folded towel until ready to serve.
